Describe the best part of your job:

I really enjoy meeting with customers to understand what challenges they face and then working with them to address those challenges with technology solutions.

Summarize what you do on a weekly basis:

My team is responsible for driving technology solutions and support across the Southeast for Dobbs Positioning Solutions.  I focus on spending time with customers, listening to their needs, and providing my support team everything they need to be a “best in class” solutions provider to our customers.

What are the top 3 skills you pride yourself in that relate to your job:

Listening, learning, and asking questions.  Too often technology conversations can be one-sided and lean towards all the wonderful things our technology can do, but it means nothing without understanding how our customers would use it.  Sometimes that means challenging a customer with a question or suggestion to understand their specific application and use of our technology.

What are your favorite equipment technology products and why:

Teleo is disrupting the materials handling and construction market with supervised autonomy.  This is very exciting as our industry addresses personnel shortages and lack of skilled labor for the work to be done.  Teleo opens the market for operators who can extend their careers in an office environment and for operators who may be physically unable to be in a machine onsite.   Topcon’s Intelligent Paving and MC Mobile products are innovative and address new markets for us and we are investing in those 100%.  John Deere’s SmartGrade and Topcon MC Max systems for dozers, excavators, and motor graders continue to be our mainline products that are a necessity for our heavy equipment customers.

What markets are your area of expertise:

  • Earth/Sitework
  • Utility
  • Road Building & Paving
  • Material Processing & Mining
  • Governmental & Waste Solutions
  • Engineering & Surveying

What else what you like to share:

Technology and Positioning Solutions is the fastest changing segment of our construction industry.  While I always lean on my experience for recommending our solutions to our customers, I think it is important to sometimes forget all we know and really approach a situation with fresh eyes and ears.  It’s almost impossible to keep up with every new software solution, equipment innovation, or method available in our industry.  If my team can really listen to our customers to understand exactly what they need, and remain experts in all of the products we represent, there is no doubt we can help our customers become more efficient, productive, and profitable.
